JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
Hinds County District 5 Supervisor Kenneth Stokes told WLBT that a Louisiana bus company will get the money it's looking for after a trip to Jackson last January.
During the 2012 MLK Parade, Louisiana Motorcoach sent three busloads of students from New Orleans to Jackson for the parade. Company General Manager, Louis Sanders said Stokes sent a fax to the company promising to pay the $4,500 bill. The company hasn't received any money and is now threatening to take legal action. Sanders has documentation with Stokes' signature, as a payment agreement. On Friday, Sanders told WLBT that Stokes told him someone forged his signature.
WLBT caught up with Stokes during the MLK parade on Saturday. The Supervisor said the company will get its money.
"Like I told them, be patient we'll keep working on it they can't show anything with Kenny Stokes signature on it there and they know it, but we're going to pay it because we're for Dr. King," said the Hinds County Supervisor.
With interest, Sanders said the bus bill is now $5,000.
