After reported Facebook posts threatened to disrupt school Tuesday morning at Warren Central High in Vicksburg, the school district says "there is no incident," and the day will continue as any other.
A heavier police presence than normal at Warren Central High Tuesday morning caused alarm for some parents. Vicksburg Warren School District Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Swinford, however, says there is no need for worry.
Despite reported posts to Facebook threatening an event at the school, located at 1000 Highway 27 South, on Tuesday, Dr. Swinford confirms, "We have no incident. We have [comments on] Facebook pages."
Dr. Swinford says Warren Central High School is open and operating as normal and parents should plan for their children to attend school as they would any other day. The superintendent adds that she hopes parents will not take their information from a social media site, but will trust that the teachers and administrators of the Vicksburg Warren School District will care for the students to the best of their ability as they do every day.
The Warren County Sheriff's Office plans to make rounds through the parking lots of schools within the Vicksburg Warren School District to ensure their assistance is not needed throughout the day Tuesday, adds Dr. Swinford.
