Extended CPR shows success

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Despite some thinking that CPR is futile after 20 minutes -- a new study from the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia suggests extending CPR can be life-saving.

Researchers there analyzed hospital records of nearly 35-hundred children over 9 years.

Among kids who suffered cardiac arrest in the hospital, more children than expected survived after CPR lasting more than 35 minutes.

Over 60-percent had good neurological outcomes.
