Shoplifting suspect surrenders

PEARL, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Pearl police announced Thursday a wanted felony shoplifting suspect was arrested within hours of his mug shot appearing in our newscasts.

Lt. Butch Townsend says Tyrone Christmas, 34, surrendered to Pearl police Wednesday night after the police department asked the community for help in finding the shoplifting suspect.

Police say on Dec. 28, Tyrone Christmas left the Pearl Walmart with two flat panel TVs and two desktop computers without paying for them. The items were valued at $1,352. Christmas is also suspected of committing similar crimes at stores in Ridgeland, Richland and Vicksburg.

Christmas was charged and released on bond. His initial appearance is set for Jan 31.
