Missing Smith County woman found dead

From Smith County Sheriff Larry Smith:

The body of Shannon Michelle Johnson, who had been reported Thursday night as missing, was located Friday night in Tyler.

Mrs. Johnson appears to have suffered one apparent self inflicted gunshot wound.

Investigators from the Smith County Sheriff's Office and Tyler Police Department remain on the scene near the intersection of Ferguson and Beckham Street east of downtown Tyler at this time.

An inquest is underway by Smith County Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Gary Alfred. Mrs. Johnson was found in her 2006 GMC Envoy by a Tyler Police Department Patrolman.
