Crews battle fires on Natchez Trace

RAYMOND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Firefighters responded to a blaze along the Natchez Trace in Hinds county Sunday.

Units responded to the blaze near Dupree Road in Raymond.

Crews were battling that fire around three o'clock.

Officials with the Hinds County Sheriff's Department said a residential area was threatened, but the fire was brought under control before flames reached any homes.

No injuries were reported.

Officials with the Natchez Trace Park Rangers confirmed that firefighters were on the scene of another fire in Gluckstadt.

Less than an acre was burned.

That fire was reported around 1:20 p.m.
