ETX man dies in Van Zandt County crash

VAN ZANDT COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

A Kilgore man was killed in a car crash Wednesday afternoon on I-20 west of the FM 47 exit.

DPS tells us that the crash happened at 2:10 p.m.

Trooper Jean Dark tells KLTV that an 18-wheeler was parked legally on the shoulder of I-20. Buddy Ray Wilkins, 57, of Kilgore, approached the truck in his SUV, and we're told that he drifted into the back of the 18-wheeler.

Trooper Dark said the reason that Wilkins drifted off the road is still unclear.

There were no other injuries reported.
