Ground has been officially broken on the 2013 St. Jude Dream Home.
Young Mabry Smith, a brain tumor survivor and St. Jude patient, is among the dignitaries hoisting a shovel-full of dirt on the vacant lot.
This is the 11th year a dream home has been built to benefit the children of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Builder Brian Burkley's goal every year is to build a home better than the last one and this year is no different.
"This house is going to be valued at half a million to $550,000," said Burkley. "We cut no corners. We're using some of the best products, actually products that wouldn't be in a the budget on a house like this because people are donating and they're wanting to showcase their products. So a lot of hi-end products are in this house."
The home is being built in the Hartford Subdivision in Madison County.
Tickets for a chance to win the home will go on sale this spring.
