Female teacher accused of sex with student

BROWNSVILLE, TN -

(WMC-TV) - A Haywood County teacher is under arrest and charged with aggravated statutory rape.

The arrest warrant says Abby Hooper, who was 32 at the time, engaged in sexual intercourse with a 17 year old student.

Hooper is a prodigy teacher, which means she teaches gifted students throughout the country.

No one answered the door at Hooper's home on Williamsburg Lane.

Action News 5 learned she is staying with her mom and stepfather.

In a news release, the school board says they suspended Abby Hooper without pay and will not comment further until the investigation is complete.
