Three people are facing charges after allegedly harassing a Vicksburg business owner.
Vicksburg police say they arrested three people -- 39-year-old Dawn Irons, 66-year-old Bruce Hartfield and 34-year-old Leron Beeman -- during an undercover investigation Thursday. The three are charged with extortion and conspiracy to commit a crime.
A Vicksburg business owner and developer filed a complaint Tuesday reporting Hartfield, a local Realtor, had demanded nearly $25,000 from him, and after refusing to pay him, Hartfield left intimidating calls and messages, according to a press release from the police department.
The other suspects, Irons and Beeman, then reportedly contacted the victim and said the harassment would stop if he paid Irons $4,000, Beeman $2,500 and Hartfield $2,000.
Police say they arrested the trio when they tried to pick up checks for the money. They also recovered a .22-caliber pistol from Hartfield, according to the release.
