Lincoln County authorities believe they have the two men responsible for an attempted armed robbery Thursday in custody.
Phillip Montgomery, the owner of Zetus Automotive, scared off two would-be robbers from his rural Lincoln County business by firing six rounds at them with a shotgun.
"I didn't really have time to get scared. I was more mad than I was anything," Montgomery said. "You don't really have time to consider, other than trying to take care of yourself. That pretty much summed it up. You know, I am that type of guy. I'm not gonna go down easy. I am not going to just let somebody walk in and take my place. I'm gonna fight."
David E. Coleman, 36, of Hazlehurst was arrested on Highway 550 Friday morning. He is charged with attempted armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, burglary of a residence and burglary of a vehicle. He is being held on $100,000 bond, but has a hold from the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
Dontrail Smith, 36, of Georgetown is charged with attempted armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and burglary of a vehicle. His bond was set at $50,000.
