Traffic along the Mississippi River resumed Saturday while barges damaged nearly a week ago await transport.
U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Matthew Schofield said the two barges remain stopped on the Louisiana banks of the river.
The damaged barge that leaked oil has been temporarily repaired.
Both will be removed to another facility when a final transport plan is approved by the Coast Guard.
South and north bound river traffic were allowed to open at eight a.m.
Officials said 9,953 gallons of an oily water mixture were recovered during the skimming efforts.
