Scheduled controlled burns on Natchez Trace Parkway

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

If your drive along the scenic Natchez Trace Parkway, it could be a little smokey this week.

Beginning Monday through Thursday, there will be three prescribed controlled burns, if weather permits, for these areas no closures are expected at the Mount Locust visitor area in Jefferson County.

However, visitors to the site may experience smoky conditions during the burn.

The hiking trail at Rocky Springs Campground in Claiborne County will be closed north of Little Sand Creek on the day of the burn.

The trails south of Little Sand Creek will remain open.

The hiking trail at west Florida Boundary in Madison County will be closed on the day of the burn.
