JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Mississippi Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Cindy Hyde-Smith introduced the first issue of Mississippi Agriculture at the Capitol Wednesday.

The publication, sponsored by the Mississippi Department of Agriculture, tells the story of Mississippi agriculture from the perspective of those who live it every day, according to Hyde-Smith. It will serve as an educational tool to increase awareness of the role that agriculture plays in the local, state and global economy.

The publication will be produced annually and is supported through advertisements.

Mississippi Agriculture is available to the public at no charge and can be picked up at the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce, the Mississippi Farmers Market and the Mississippi Agriculture and Forestry Museum.

A digital version of Mississippi Agriculture is also available on the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce web site.
