JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - A new study finds the city of Jackson will need an estimated $300 million to fix its crumbling water system.
The Clarion-Ledger reports Mayor Harvey Johnson Jr. released some of the basic details about the study on Wednesday.
The city already has to spend roughly $400 million on sewer improvements, as mandated by the Environmental Protection Agency. Add in water lines, roads and drainage, and the city could be facing close to $1 billion in infrastructure needs over the next two decades.
