JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson police have arrested three teens after numerous stolen items were discovered at a south Jackson residence Friday.

Police received a call from a woman whose house was burglarized while she was at the Jackson Police Department's monthly Community-Oriented Policing Strategies, or COPS, program meeting Thursday night. The investigation led police to the residence at 2833 Donaldson Drive.

Officer Colendula Green says the three juveniles, all males, are charged with receiving stolen goods. The teens are suspected in several house burglaries in the area, and some of them have been in trouble with the law in the past for stealing, Green said. Green didn't have information on if the juveniles were related or if they lived at the residence.

Officers recovered numerous stolen items, including a scooter, flat screen TV, laptops, guns, an air compressor, an XBox system, video game controllers, cell phones and jewelry.

Monthly meetings are held in each of JPD's precincts through the COPS program, which seek to educate citizens on crime deterrence, according to the city.
