JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

For the first time in nearly two months, residents living near the intersection of Galloway and Broadway avenues in Jackson's Fondren neighborhood don't have to maneuver around orange barricades.

Residents contacted WLBT and Fox 40 in early February saying there had been a leak in the street for almost a month and a huge crater had formed at the intersection. The city sectioned off the hole with barricades.

At the time, city spokesman Chris Mimms said the delivery of equipment to find the leak was delayed, and work would begin on the street early the next week.

Last week, crews fixed the water leak but then discovered a sewer leak under the pavement that also had to be repaired, according to the city.
