Miss. governor: More than 60 hurt in storms

A dreary, rainy Monday afternoon in the metro and I'm Howard Ballou with a look at some of the news stories you will see on WLBT.

Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant says more than 60 people were injured in the storms that hit the state a day ago. But he says no lives were lost, in part because people were given ample warning that a tornado was approaching.

Here in the Jackson area, flooding is the issue as the heavy rains brought more problems to the capital city's already aging and overworked drainage system.

Plus, Darian "Drake" Pierce and Ricky Wedgeworth have pleaded guilty in federal court to kidnapping an Ohio man in Vicksburg after escaping from the Louisiana State Police Headquarters in March 2011, according to U.S. Attorney Gregory Davis.
