Vision screening is effective for children younger than three

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Vision screening may be effective and appropriate at very young ages.

The U-S Preventive Services Task Force recently said there wasn't enough evidence to recommend screening children under age three for vision problems like amblyopia.

But new data from the University of Iowa found testing for such problems was equally effective in kids under age three as it was for kids over age four.

The condition, also called 'lazy eye', is highly treatable if caught early.
