HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

A Hub City pastor is crediting God with helping him survive Sunday's tornado. Jeff Revette, pastor of Living Word Church, was driving on Hwy. 49 when he saw the storm coming his way.

He turned onto Pearl St. and left his car for the safety of an east wall of Westminster Presbyterian Church. A portion of the church's roof collapsed around Revette, but he only received a couple of superficial cuts.

Another motorist also survived the storm by crouching in a church walkway near Revette.

"I never in my life thought I would experience something like this, but I know the providence of God and how he protects all of us," Revette said.

Revette returned to the church Monday to claim his vehicle, which had body damage and had its windows blown out. But, the engine started and he was able to drive it away.
