Malcolm Shorter (Source: Vicksburg Police Department)A Vicksburg man is facing charges after police say he solicited a child for sex using social media.
Vicksburg Police Capt. Robert Stewart says 35-year-old Malcolm Shorter sent a 13-year-old girl Facebook messages soliciting sex. The victim told her mother about the messages and the mother then reported them to police, Stewart said.
Stewart said Shorter is a friend of the victim's family. He is charged with child enticement and his bond was set at $300,000 bond.
Shorter is also being held on a separate warrant for statutory rape. Stewart said the alleged statutory rape was reported in Nov. 2011. Shorter was released on $50,000 bond and a Warren County Grand Jury indicted him in December on the charge.
No bond has been set for the statutory rape charge pending an arraignment.
