Car found partially submerged in creek

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Some west Jackson residents were surprised to see a sedan partially submerged in a muddy creek near a shopping center and apartment complex Tuesday morning.

The driver of the Buick Regal apparently lost control and ran off of the parking lot behind Westland Plaza Shopping Center. The vehicle ended up with its driver's side in Lynch Creek.

Jackson Assistant Police Chief Lee Vance said the department has been in touch with the driver, who is going to have the towed away.

We're told the driver was able to exit the passenger side of the vehicle and walk up the rocks to safety.

The nearby Camelot Apartments frequently floods from this creek.
