2 plead guilty to federal drug charges

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Two Jackson men have pleaded guilty to federal drug charges related to an extensive investigation. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and several assisting agencies targeted illegal narcotics distribution in Jackson and dubbed the investigation "Operation Paperchase."

Kelvin Redd, 36, faces a maximum penalty of 40 years in prison and a $5 million fine after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute cocaine and crack. He will be sentenced May 30.

Julian Michael Thompson, 33, is also facing 40 years and a $5 million fine after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute more than 28 grams of crack. Thompson will be sentenced April 24.
