Woman violently attacked during date

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A man is in custody after police said he refused to take his date home and then attacked her.

The suspect, Claude Delanore Maney, picked up the woman for a date Saturday night.

According to an arrest warrant, Maney took the victim to his home. She then asked to leave, but he said no.

An argument started and eventually police said the man slammed the woman on the ground, grabbing her throat.

She lost consciousness but later woke up and ran to a neighbor's home and called 911.

Police arrested Maney and charged him with aggravated assault and strangulation.

The couple had only been dating for a week.
