Skylar Laine delights Jackson lunch crowd

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

American Idol sweetheart Skylar Laine impressed the lunch crowd at her family's sandwich shop, Beatty Street Grocery, in Jackson Tuesday. The Brandon singer pulled up a bar stool and put on a surprise concert.

Laine has been taking it easy since coming home from her American Idol experience last year, occasionally singing for groups and making public appearances. She plans to pack her bags and move to Nashville next month.

Beatty Street Grocery has been in her family for 72 years. Skylar says she's been visiting the store ever since she can remember.

"I used to sit up on the front counter bagging stuff for everyone. I was small so I would sit Indian style on the counter bagging stuff all day long. My mom didn't want to put me with a babysitter, she would take me here. I would do what ever she wanted me to do," Laine says.

Laine also greeted customers, and signed autographs for fans.
