The City of Jackson wants to get guns off the street and out of felon's hands. Mayor Harvey Johnson was joined by members of the Jackson Police Department and Crime Stoppers for the announcement Wednesday afternoon.
Six Jackson Police cars now feature Crime Stoppers decals. One of the decals says, "Felons with Firearms is a Crime!"
Mayor Johnson said during the press conference that felons with firearms were responsible for 24 percent of the homicides in Jackson last year.
People can receive up to a $500 reward for turning in a felon with a firearm tip.
