FBI: Girl kidnapped after meeting man on Facebook

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

An Alabama man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly kidnapping a girl from Crystal Springs and taking her to his home.

According to a press release from the FBI Jackson Field Office, 23-year-old Diego Ralios Cortez met a minor from Crystal Springs on Facebook. The two talked on Facebook for about six months and Cortez also drove to Crystal Springs to meet the girl, according to the FBI.

Authorities say Cortez picked the girl up Sunday and drove her to his home in Alabama. Tuesday he brought the girl back to Mississippi and dropped her off at a restaurant in Byram after he received a Facebook message about the search for the girl, according to the FBI.

Later Tuesday, Pearl police officers spotted Cortez's vehicle and arrested him on a warrant for kidnapping.

Cortez is also known as Yonatan Flores and Jonathan Flores.
