The defense department has created a
firestorm of protest over a new medal for cyber warriors and drone pilots. It's
called the distinguished warfare medal for all those service members who have
made a huge difference in the war on terror.
The problem is that the medal
would rank above a Bronze Star with valor device and a Purple Heart.
The
national commander of the VFW says in so many words that it's ridiculous to be
placed that high in prominence.
As one veteran posted on military dot com:
"Why is the meritorious service medal not sufficient? This is how the
secretary of defense is going to leave his mark? Shame on him and anyone who
supports this."
As a retired army veteran, I completely agree.
