Police: Suspects sell drugs 4 blocks from police station

BROOKHAVEN, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A husband and wife duo, along with seven others, has been accused of selling drugs within four blocks of the Lincoln County Sheriff Department office.

According to Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics Director Marshall Fisher, nine people total were arrested in and around Brookhaven early Tuesday morning.

Code-named Operation Neighborhood Watch, the two-month MBN investigation that led to the arrests is expected to yield at least three additional arrests, Director Fisher said.

Officials say the suspects are lower- to mid-level dealers of several drugs, including the prescription drug hydrocodone as well as marijuana. In addition to crack cocaine and crystal methamphetamine, which is also known as "ice" and is a purer, more potent form of the stimulant.

Those arrested are ages 19 to 40 and were transported to the Lincoln County Jail, where they are awaiting initial court appearances.

  • Latrick D. Williams, 19 - Two counts of sale of crack cocaine, two counts of sale of marijuana
  • Terrence Darrell Peyton, 40 - Three counts of sale of marijuana, three counts of sale of crystal methamphetamine, conspiracy
  • Fredrick Delon Wells, 28 - One count of sale of marijuana
  • Miguel Antiono Banks, 30 - One count of sale of marijuana
  • Michael Brewer, 36 - One count of sale of marijuana
  • Derrick Lee Christmas, 32 - One count of sale of marijuana
  • Bodarrius Dow, 20 - One count of sale of crack cocaine, Two counts of sale of marijuana
  • Denise Patterson-Peyton, 28 - One count of sale of marijuana, One count of sale of crystal methamphetamine

Numerous law enforcement offices assisted the MBN in the roundup, namely the Mississippi Highway Patrol, Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, Southwest Mississippi Inter-jurisdictional Narcotics Enforcement Unit, Mississippi Department of Wildlife Fisheries and Parks, Mississippi Department of Transportation, Mississippi Department of Corrections, Lincoln County Sheriff Department and Brookhaven Police Department.
