YAZOO COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A former Yazoo corrections officer was supposed to guard those who broke the law. But now, he will join them behind bars.

Robert Johnson of Bentonia will serve 15 months in prison for accepting a $5,000 bribe while working at the Yazoo Federal Correctional Complex.

Following Johnson's sentence, he will then be placed on three years supervised probation.

Officials with the U.S. Attorney's Office say Johnson allowed contraband to be brought into the inmates while he was on duty.
