COAHOMA COUNTY, MS -
(WMC-TV) - A 22-year-old man is charged with the murder of Marco McMillian.
Lawrence Reed is the man who was driving McMillian's vehicle when it collided with another vehicle Tuesday morning. He was airlifted to the hospital, and at some point, authorities received information that McMillian may have been in danger.
McMillian was a mayoral candidate in the town of Clarksdale. His body was located Wednesday morning in Coahoma County.
Chris Talley was the other driver injured when the two cars collided. He was also taken to the hospital, where he said deputies gave him shocking information about the accident.
"The other driver of the vehicle that hit me told a deputy on scene that he had murdered somebody the night before and he had dumped the body beside a lake," Talley said.
Reed was officially charged with murder Thursday.
He is still at The MED, and is listed in good condition.
