A day after he was arrested for allegedly molesting a young girl at least 10 times over a several month period, a 33-year-old Huntington man posted a bail of $50,000 and was released from the Angelina County Jail.

Scott Charles Riley was arrested Tuesday and charged with continuous sex abuse of a child under the age of 14, which is a first-degree felony. If he is convicted of the charge, he faces a sentence of up to life in prison, according to Section 12.32 of the Texas Penal Code.

According to copy of the bond conditions set by Angelina County's Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace office, Riley is forbidden from having any direct or indirect contact with the victim. In addition, he is not allowed to be within 500 feet of the victim's residence and will be required to report twice a week to the Community Supervision and Probation Department for drug and alcohol testing.

Riley is also required to comply with all orders and/or safety plans issued by Child Protective Services and is only allowed supervised visitation with the victim if the visit is approved by CPS. He is also not allowed to possess a firearm.

Some of the items not checked on the bond conditions were: "defendant shall not be within the presence of any child (in a residence and/or a vehicle) under the age of 18 unless a responsible adult over the age of 21 is present" and "Defendant shall not go within 100 yards of any park, playground, recreational area, public swimming pool, movie theater, day care center, school, zoo, and/or area of concentrated use by children."

The arrest affidavit stated a detective with the office went to Harold's House on Feb. 11 and interviewed a girl who said Scott Charles Riley, 33, had molested her when she was 10 years old.

She said there were 10 to 11 incidents in which he did it when she was 10. The girl said that the first time he did it, she began crying and he stopped and apologized to her and said he did not have a girlfriend and was "horny" but would never do it again.

The girl said Riley would walk around her fully naked and do inappropriate things to her over a period of time. Each time, she would start crying and he would apologize to her and say he would never do it again.

The detective obtained a warrant for Riley's arrest on Tuesday. He was booked into the Angelina County Jail on a charge of first-degree continuous sexual abuse of a child on the same day. His bail has not yet been set.

According to Angelina County jail records, Riley was also arrested for aggravated sexual assault of a child on Dec. 8, 1999. He was released later that day. However, he was not indicted or convicted of the charge.
