JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
The body of a Ridgeland man who was reported missing nearly a week ago was discovered Wednesday in his pick-up truck in a ravine off of Fortification Street in Jackson.
John Richard Clapper Jr., 39, failed to show up for work on February 27, and the Ridgeland Police Department began asking for the public's help in finding Clapper on Friday.
According to Lt. John Neal, Clapper's body was discovered in his pick-up truck in a ravine Wednesday morning. Clapper's last contact with family was on the night of February 26, and his family became concerned when he did not show up for work the following day.
Lt. Neal explains that Clapper was seen at Fenian's Pub at 901 East Fortification Street in Jackson on the night of February 26. Neal says Clapper left the pub and began driving down Fortification Street when his vehicle ran off the road, landing his pick-up truck in the ravine near the Interstate 55 exit.
Clapper's truck was spotted by a jogger around 10 a.m. Wednesday. No foul play is suspected, Neal said. Authorities have not, however, revealed a cause of death for Clapper.
