Championship games begin in State High School Basketball Tournament

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Mississippi High School Activities Association State Basketball Tournament is down to the final 12 teams. The first championship game will be played Thursday afternoon.

Several Jackson area teams are still in the mix, including the Murrah and Madison Central boys, who will play for the 6A Championship Saturday night.

The Provine and Callaway boys will play for the 5A Championship Saturday afternoon. The Velma Jackson boys will play for the 3A championship Friday afternoon.

Other area teams still in the hunt for a state title are the Forest Hill girls, Canton girls, Scott Central girls and the Hinds AHS girls.
