JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Three former law enforcement officers have pleaded guilty to theft of government funds and property.

Former Madison County Sheriff's deputy Watson Jackson, Former Hinds County Sheriff's deputy Zach Robinson and former Jackson Police officer and Hinds District Attorney's Office investigator Kent Daniels pleaded guilty in federal court Thursday.

On Sept. 30, 2011 Robinson, Daniels and an FBI informant robbed a motel room of $23,000 and seven iPads. Jackson acted as a lookout. Robinson, Daniels, Jackson and the FBI informant later split the cash and merchandise.

According to U.S. Attorney Greg Davis, the men thought the room was being used by a drug dealer, but the FBI had previously rented the motel room and placed the cash and the iPads in it.

The men will be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Tom Lee on May 23. They each face a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
