A Texas man pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine Thursday.

Alberto Morales Alejandre, 25, of Dallas, was arrested in July during a traffic stop on Interstate 20. Hinds County investigators discovered Alejandre was transporting 9,991 grams of methamphetamine in a hidden compartment beneath the carpet of his vehicle, according to U.S. Attorney Greg Davis.

Hinds County Sheriff Tyrone Lewis said the bust was the largest in the county's history. Lewis said the nearly 10 kilograms of meth had an estimated street value of $1.03 million.

Alejandre will be sentenced May 23. He faces a maximum sentence of life in prison and a $10 million fine.
