Fire destroys downtown Vicksburg structure

According to police, there are apartments above the El Rio restaurant in the 1400 block of Washington Street.

Flames were shooting out of a multi-story building in downtown Vicksburg Thursday night. Officials believe the fire started in a grill in a Mexican eatery.

According to police, there are apartments above the El Rio restaurant in the 1400 block of Washington Street. Officials believe the grill in the restaurant caught fire and spread quickly.

The building is a total loss. Officials have not said if anyone was injured during the blaze.
