Ridgeland Police Chief Jimmy Houston says nine people were arrested Saturday following an altercation at Old Trace Park.
More than a dozen police officers and other emergency personnel responded to a fight call at the park Saturday sometime after 6:30 p.m.
Houston says when officers arrived they found five to six people attacking a man. Charges against the nine people arrested include assault on a police officer, assault and disorderly conduct.
Three vehicles were also towed from the scene.
Investigators say the altercation started during a gathering of about a dozen people at the park.
Witnesses say it started as words were exchanged between a couple of people, but quickly got out of hand.
