Hailstorm leaves extensive damage

It's a beautiful Tuesday afternoon in the metro after a wild start to the week. I'm Howard Ballou with a look at some of the news stories you will see on WLBT.

Many central Mississippi residents are spending the day assessing the damage left behind by Monday's hailstorm. The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency has received reports of damage in 17 counties.

Plus, a Jackson man has been sentenced to life without parole for capital murder in the shooting death of Jose Ortiz in 2012 during an apparent robbery outside a Ridgeland apartment building.

And, Chamberlain-Hunt Academy, a 134-year-old boarding school for boys, is changing its name and adopting a new curriculum.

Also, the Pearl Public School District confirms two Pearl High School baseball coaches were forced to resign and several students were disciplined after a violation of school policy.
