LA attorney guilty of digging for artifacts at MS national park

An attorney for the State of Louisiana has pleaded guilty to digging for artifacts at Vicksburg National Military Park.

According to the National Park Service, Robert Kennedy of Baton Rouge visited the park with his family in December. He was convicted in federal court of one misdemeanor count.

The use of metal detectors, as well as digging, disturbing, defacing, injuring or removing resources from their natural state, is not permitted on federal property.
