UMMC employee in good condition after being hit by car

A University of Mississippi Medical Center employee is recovering from injuries after being hit by a car on North State Street Friday morning.     

Twenty-seven-year-old Heather Hammons is still hospitalized in good condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

Hammons told police the driver who hit her ran a red light.

Jackson Police Officer Colendula Green says the accident is under investigation, but so far no charges have been filed.

The accident occurred just before 7 a.m. Friday.
