$315,000 worth of marijuana seized in drug bust

A beautiful but chilly Monday afternoon in the Jackson metro area. I'm Howard Ballou with a look at some of the news stories you will see on WLBT.

The Jackson Police Department and a federal drug task force have seized 233 bundles of marijuana labeled California oranges, with a street value of more than $315,000.

Plus, some students at Crystal Springs Middle School have been arrested for selling drugs.

And, Gov. Phil Bryant issued a statement Sunday about the sudden death of Representative Jessica Upshaw and we've learned she's has a history of depression.

Also, democratic lawmakers are leading a charge in hopes the state's education system will see something that's become extremely rare, full funding.
