RIDGELAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

It will soon cost you a fee to get into three Reservoir parks on weekends and holidays. Before a violent brawl at Old Trace Park in Ridgeland, it was free to all.

Video that was posted on Facebook by someone in the park March 16 depicts the violent scene as numerous people assault a victim. WARNING: The video is graphic.

The violent mayhem went on until a swarm of police and Madison deputies moved in. More than 1,200 people were in the park when the fight broke out. Nine left in the back of a patrol car on a variety of charges.

One man was beaten unconscious. The violent episode was met with a strong reaction. Area residents, park goers and others outside the area, were outraged and demanded action.

Reservoir officials are doing whatever they can to keep the scenic park family friendly. Starting in May, a $3 entry fee will go into effect for each vehicle that enters the park.
