JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Two Jackson women were sentenced Tuesday after admitting to running up charges on a debit card they found in a parking lot.

According to Attorney General Jim Hood, Ashley Pollard, 27, and Vergie Mitchell, 27, found a debit card belonging to an elderly resident of Raymond. The two women ran up charges totaling $930.17 over the course of a few days.

Pollard was sentenced to serve five years in prison with three years suspended and five years of post-release supervision.

Mitchell was sentenced to five years will all of the five years suspended. An investigation revealed Pollard was the ringleader in the crime, and Mitchell's role was that of a follower, according to Hood.
