JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Governor Phil Bryant issued an executive order on Thursday ordering state flags on Mississippi buildings and grounds to be flown at half-staff Saturday.

The flags are at half staff in honor of state Representative Jessica Upshaw who died Sunday, March 24, from what authorities say was an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Upshaw's body was found at the home of former Mississippi State Rep. Clint Rotenberry in Mendenhall.

According to former Rep. Rotenberry he and Rep. Upshaw were dating and she had battled depression for many years.

Representative Upshaw was buried during a private burial on Friday. A public memorial was Saturday in Diamondhead.
