Investigators are trying to figure out if the victim was killed at the scene, or if the man was killed and then dumped on Greenwood Avenue.
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham-Stewart has identified the man whose body was found on the side of a Jackson road Monday morning as 20-year-old Christopher Alexander of Jackson.
Grisham-Stewart says Alexander's death has been ruled a homicide. He died of a stab wound to the neck.
Jackson police say a driver discovered Alexander's body on the side of Greenwood Avenue, just north of Daniel Lake Boulevard, shortly after midnight Monday morning.
Investigators are trying to figure out if Alexander was killed at the scene, or if he was killed and then dumped on Greenwood Avenue.
Less than a month ago, two people were killed and two others were injured in a shooting on Greenwood Avenue. Police said it was a dice game gone bad.
Residents say they are tired of the violence in the area. One woman said she's leaving.
"You be hearing shooting in the back on other streets. Sometimes you hear them in the morning and then it gets up again at night doing the same ole thing," the resident said. "It's time for all that shooting and stuff to stop."
Another woman also said gunfire isn't uncommon, especially when the sun sets.
"It's just a lot of shooting out here," she said.
Both women said they've never had any real issues in the neighborhood, but they know criminals are nearby. Mainly they stick to themselves.
