COPIAH COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Wild hogs have become a serious problem for Mississippi landowners. So much so, the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks now permits them to be hunted and killed anytime, anywhere.

Fifth-three-year-old Tony Hammons went on a recent hunting trip in rural Copiah County, where he lives. He was kind enough to take his own camcorder along on a hunt, and shared video with us of the hogs being chased by dogs and caught by his friends.

His two friends are Cody Williams from Louisiana and Mike Walley of Laurel. Hammons hunts hogs to eat them.

"It's better than store bought beef or pork," said Hammons.

Hammons says the hogs are dangerous and can seriously harm humans if they are not careful.

"They will cut you," said Hammons. "As a matter of fact, one of the men, from south Mississippi,  he was in the woods with his dogs, and he has got a finger missing. One bit his finger off."

In rural areas along the Pearl River in Copiah County, Hammons says the hogs are just taking over, destroying crops and anything else in their path.

He says it is unusual to see them in the daytime.
