JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The appointments of former Hinds County Chief Deputy Steve Pickett and former state Sen. Doug Davis of Hernando and  to the Mississippi Parole Board have been approved by the Senate.

Pickett left his position as resources officer for Hinds County Youth Court in November to take on the Parole Board position.

Davis, a former banker, began his $70,000-a-year job in late January after his appointment by Gov. Phil Bryant.

The Mississippi Parole Board, which has a chairman and four members, determines parole eligibility of state prisoners.

Former Hinds County Sheriff Malcolm McMillin is the current chairman.
