JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Hinds County District 2 Supervisor Doug Anderson is no longer on a respirator, but he remains at St. Dominic Hospital after suffering a bad reaction to heart medicine.

Anderson has been hospitalized since Wednesday. He suffered a heart attack a few weeks ago. We spoke to Anderson's daughter over the weekend, and she said she anticipated a long recovery from this latest setback.

Anderson was brought into the hospital in critical condition, and was put in the intensive care unit. It's unclear if he remains in intensive care.

Anderson said he was retiring from the Board of Supervisors last December, but just a short time after his resignation Anderson was back in his seat. Some have said Anderson backed out of his resignation after learning that former staffer Gil Sturgis was interested in taking his position.
