A former Byram bank teller has admitted to stealing a customer's identity to get a loan.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Kelly Taplin, 31, pleaded guilty Monday to aggravated identity theft. She will be sentenced July 11 and faces a mandatory penalty of two years in prison and a maximum possible fine of $250,000.

Taplin admitted to using a customer's name, social security number and date of birth while working at Trustmark National Bank in Byram. Taplin obtained a $2,550 loan in the customer's name and used the loan proceeds for herself, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
